about

TSR 80

The album can be seen as a concept focus on Jim Jones the american cult leader, pastor of the radical leftist Peoples Temple. in 1978 Jones committed a mass murder-suicide of 918 of his followers in Jonestown, Guyana. Nearly three hundred children were murdered, almost all of them by cyanide poisoning via a Flavor Aid mix.

The third album from Viscera/// is an extremely impressive and enjoyable listen. With variety, depth and a comprehensive tour of the extreme metal landscape, this is an album that'll be ruling my playlists for quite some time to come. An essential listen for fans of underground hostility.
- Wonderbox Metal

3 | Release Yourself Through Desperate Rituals is tagged as “psych metal,” and that makes complete sense. This is an ethereal listen, one to get lost in. Atmospherics are normally created with extensive layering, not the precise placement of minute but distinct parts. VISCERA/// opted for architectural blueprints, opposed to, say, abstract art. This is the tougher strategy when it comes to forming an airy headspace, but one with the potential for hefty payouts when well-executed.
- Invisible Oranges

Coming a staggering seven years after their previous record, 3 introduces shorter song lengths, even more intelligible lyrics and themes, a more marked hardcore/punk urgency, and even further abstraction, wildly enhanced by conceptual underlying theme of the album that living is suffering and as such demands widespread suicide. With a plethora of allusions in sound and approaches that range from Godflesh, to The God Machine, to early Isis, to Nasum, Celtic Frost and Paradise Lost, VISCERA/// have once again created something completely undefinable that will leave most of us baffled and confused but which will ultimately – as always – place the band standing entirely on their own planet and in their own universe as the rest of the world tries to look in and understand their mysterious intents and vision.
- Cvlt Nation

They seize the best elements from a wide range of styles and combine them into a harmonious blend. Although it might seem otherwise, every sudden turn, each break is well calculated. But still surprises the listener, makes the songs vital and outstanding. And “Release Yourself Through Desperate Rituals” to a great and unique album in the end. This is angry and hopeless music for the open-minded! Highly recommended.
- The Nocturnal Silence

- I gufi narranti

Brevemente: tremendo..
